Most people know Omar Khayyám to be a poet. But almost nobody knows that Omar Khayyám was also a doctor, a mathematician and an astronomer. The customer of this sundial shows that this is not a general rule.
In southern part of the dial a line of one of the most known ruba'I and the name of Omar Khayyám in Arabian letters are etched. The instrument is delineated to show the day sawing time in GMT+3 time zone. Four anniversary lines (one to each member of the customer family) are etched on the northern part of the sundial.
