This south faced sundial measures the time of GMT+3 zone (Moscow). On the northern side of the device, image of one of the largest and most beautiful insects of Russia, a dragonfly, or "Aeshna grandis L." is cut out. It was very long ago: on the bank of a small pure river, over the sedge heated by the sun - there we saw this beautiful creature the last time. The dragonfly came back to us from our childhood.

The duration of solar day is changeable within a year. Thus the difference between clock and sundial indications may be as high as 15 min depending on the season. You may easy convert solar time into mean time and vice versa using the equation of time table or graph. Usually I make it of brass, copper or stone.
